In Memoriam

It is with great sadness that we note the passing of Life Member (50+ years), Lenore Cane of Kingston. She was a fixture on our board for decades and a stickler for Robert’s Rules, sticking to time and keeping her Treasurer’s records updated to the penny. She chaired the Nominating Committee numerous times and ran a tight ship there as well, balancing discussions and phone calls to prospective board members (90-minute meetings. Nomore, no less) with being a gracious hostess, serving up soup, sandwiches and homemade cookies to attendees at her home. She also coordinated the annual Voter’s Guide distribution for many years, organizing dozens of volunteers delivering thousands of our Part 1 & 2 publications. Lee was also Parliamentarian for many Annual Potluck Meetings and always provided cups of filled chocolate cordials and baked goods for all to enjoy.

Lee’s sometimes gruff exterior hid a heart of gold and sincere desire to make a difference in the world. An active member since 1973, Lee and her delightful husband Len were part of the‘movers and shakers’ who made Ulster County a better place to live.

So many stories to tell… She will not be forgotten.
